Tip

Key Achievements

  1. Completion of long list of benchmarking problems

  2. Development of workflow/roadmap for the DEM simulation of a rotating drum

Focus for next period

  1. Selection of benchmarking problems for short-list and their definition

  2. Development of additional roadmaps for the selected benchmarking problems

Note

Input needed from other WGs

  1. WG1 - Any benchmarking problems and requirements being developed for assessment of hardware architectures, ML and up-scaling techniques

  2. WG2 - List/Database of contact models would be useful to determine availability of these across different DEM codes

  3. WG3 - Any details on output format which may/should be implemented for all benchmarking problems

  4. WG5 - Any benchmarking problems which may have been requested by industrial members/partners

  5. WG6 - Help with the marketing/advertising of benchmarking problems will be required once the short-list is defined so the number of participants and DEM codes involved in each problem can be maximised.

Brief Summary

There were two sessions during the meeting. In the first one the list of potential benchmarking problems was discussed in detail. During the second one the roadmap for the rotating drum was developed. The idea is to survey ON-DEM members about their potential participation on individual benchmarking problems in order to define the final short-list. Further roadmaps will be developed for other benchmarking problems and these will serve as “template” for the handbook of best practice and guidance.
