Work group meeting for 1,2,6 in Twente, The Netherlands
Plan
WG meeting in the Netherlands (hosted by University of Twente). 2 days. 15 people to reimbursed by COST. It will happen in January/February as a “satellite” event before/after another event related to an EU grant by the local team. The benefit of this is that, the EU project can contribute towards the costs, hence the number of participants is likely to be close to 25. Intended WGs: WG1, WG2 and WG6. It may include a hackathon event for WG1 and a 3 day will be planned for a Training School also organised by WG1 (details below). This will be also the opportunity to “Kick Off” the outreach and mentoring programmes for WG6.
Training School on Machine Learning, upscaling and HPC/GPU computing for DEM. A 1 day event for about 20 people. A satellite event to the WG meeting in the Netherlands in January.

Restaurants
There are many excellent restaurants in and around the city centre of Enschede, which are easy to find using Google. However, two important warnings: Mondays can be challenging, as most restaurants outside the city centre are closed, and many establishments stop serving by 8 PM–9 PM. Therefore, late-night dining options are quite limited
